Do Drawing Tablets Work on Chromebooks?

Chromebooks do support some drawing tablets. Chromebook owners should be aware of a few exceptions to the rule even though the vast majority of them are still incompatible with Chromebooks.

In recent times, Wacom has updated drivers for some of its drawing tablets, and they now explicitly state on their website that drawing tablets like the Wacom Intuos and the One by Wacom are compatible with Chromebooks.

Can I use any other drawing tablet with my Chromebook?

Definitely. With the exception of the two drawing tablets mentioned previously, getting other devices to work properly with Chromebooks can be a challenge. Linux-based devices such as Chromebooks can now use graphics tablets thanks to the Linux Wacom Tablet Project.

The graphics tablets sold by companies such as Huion, XP-PEN, and Gaomon don't support Linux, so they can't be paired with Chromebooks.

Since the majority of people use these two operating systems, drawing tablet manufacturers have decided to focus their efforts on developing devices that work with Windows and Mac computers. For now, Linux support doesn't seem profitable enough to justify the investment.

The situation is rapidly changing, and since Wacom has adapted its products to work with Chromebooks, other companies such as Huion and XP-PEN are likely to follow.

Over the next year or so, we should see a number of drawing tablets that are compatible with Chromebooks.
